Norm's Best

604 School Street, Putnam

Normand has been making his marinated mushrooms for 16 years. In the past the mushrooms have been marketed through Root 44 Produce, located at 604 School Street, Putnam, CT 860-928-3663. Normand along with his partner Cindy owned Root 44 Produce for 22 years. The business was sold to Shawn and Mara Tessier, Normand's son and daughter-in-law in October 2004. While the established Produce business carries on with the family name, selling the business allowed Normand more time to market his food line. Normand marinates button gourmet mushrooms in his special marinate. Recently he added another product, coated cashews.

Wagon Road Greenhouse

FrankWagon Road Greenhouse is owned and operated by Frank and Donna Anastasio and is located on Wagon Road in South Killingly, CT.  We produce a variety of plants in the spring, summer and fall as well as three acres of vegetables.

We have been members of the Northeast CT Farmers’ Market since it inception in 1980.  At the Danielson and Putnam Markets we offer our annual, perennial and herb plants.  In the fall we grow garden mums.  In addition we grow a wide variety of vegetables.

Many people just love our vine-ripened (literally) greenhouse tomatoes in June and July.  One very nice woman became visibly upset when she discovered that the tomatoes she had been enjoying for two seasons were from the greenhouse (this has never been a secret), believing that greenhouse tomatoes have no flavor.  Wagon Road's GreenhouseShe stormed off that day without buying any, but returned one hour later with the realization that these tomatoes were different and that she truly couldn’t be without them.  She continues to be a regular customer to this day.

We just love going to the Farmers’ Markets.  We have met so many wonderful people, had so many enjoyable conversations and have derived so much pleasure in offering the best we have from our greenhouse and garden to the community.

Visit us at our website and come by to say "Hi" at the Market.

Wayne's Organic Garden

Wayne's Organic GardenWayne's Organic Garden has been certified organic since 1989, the longest certified organic farm in eastern Connecticut and the second-longest in the state. We strive to supply high-quality organic produce that is flavorful, attractive, and often unusual.

Part of our mission is education about new varieties, heirloom varieties, or vegetables that have been forgotten. While some dismiss our offerings with "I've never seen that before," others are delighted that we have fava beans, celeriac, "Zephyr" summer squash, and "fingerling" potatoes, in addition to more commonly seen produce. We are known for garlic, garlic scapes, fresh lettuce throughout the summer, and "Sun Gold" cherry tomatoes.

We believe that food can be medicine and that tasting good food leads one to enjoy what is truly good for health. We practice what we preach, living on our own produce year 'round and buying locally what we don't produce.
Our farm is tiny, we grow on less than two acres, but we supply a lot, selling at Putnam on Thursdays and Danielson on Saturdays. We also have a small subscription plan for the summer, go to the Old Saybrook market on Wednesdays, and sell to the Willimantic Food Coop as well as participating in various festivals around the state.

Give us a try.
